Are there 2 heights? my DSA has a long post and the one I bought for 400 bucks last week has a short post. It is NOT broken in any way, only difference is that one has a grenade sight on the gas plug. Any insights? Thats has a Stier BBL which is Austrian. Thanks.

Regular metric front sight posts are marked with dots, numbering 1-4, with #4 being the tallest.

So, there are actually 4 different height posts? And yes, this is a metric FAL. What determines the height of the post?

You need to get the correct height post to get it zeroed.  Nothing determines the height that comes with it.  Most I have seen come with the 2 dot.  DSA also has one that does not have any dots (raises point of impact) that is lower that the one dot.

I think there are 5 post heights.
0 dot = shortest
1 dot
2 dot
3 dot
4 dot= tallest

I believe that's correct - also, a typical 21" barreled FAL will usually zero with a 2 dot, and a 16" barrel will zero with a 3 or 4 dot - in my experience...
