.22 magnum is a larger diameter than .22 long rifle. Like 38 S&W is larger than 38 Special.

aw that blows oh well i guess I will just get one in 22LR why would you want a 22mag if you can't shoot LR out of it aren't 22mags pretty expensive?

I have a Ruger Single Six that has (2) cylinders, one for .22LR and the other for .22 Mag. I also had, but sold a S&W Mod 48 that had (2) cylinders. I couldn't see the advantage of firing .22 Mag's. The cost of a box of shells is about $5-6, the same as .38 Specials.

A 22 mag cannot shoot 22 Long Rifle. The case of the 22 LR will rupture when fired in a 22 mag revolver. The 22 mag also cannot shoot in a dedicated 22 LR because the 22 mag has a longer case than the 22 LR. If you want to shoot both the 22 mag and 22 LR in the same gun then buy a convertible, like the Ruger single six, which has a 22 LR cylinder and a 22 mag cylinder.

I think I will just by a 22LR I don't think I would ever shoot mags out of it anyway whats the point? is a magnum 22 a better man stopper than a LR I doubt its much better and they both are pretty weak in my opinion!
