I have not had a 22 handgun in a long time.

I have another 22 can incoming and would like to shoot it on a handgun.

If I pick up a run of the mill ruger 22/45 how short can I get the barrel and still have it function.  Yes I know all about concentricity and such in my machining work.   I dont care about the terminal ballistics or anything this will be a fun shooter.

Thanks

I have a paclite upper on my Mark III and it has a 4.5 inch barrel, and I use a Silencerco sparrow.  It functions very well, and as long as the temperature is about 45-50 degrees 99% of federal bulk pack rounds stay subsonic.  I have no problems hitting steel at 100 yards.  It's easily one of my favorite guns now.

I have the factory threaded 22/45 with 4.5" barrel and it works perfect with my SS Sparrow.

No idea how short you could go and it still function.

The factory made 4" models so I know that is safe, and I know of 3.5" guns that function.
