I just bought some old Colt grips for my Commander and they don't fit. They are the brown, checkered, plastic ones with the Colt logo in the middle.(like the 1991A1 grips, but brown).

They are not Officer's grips, but they do not fit commander or ful-size. Screw holes are just a tad too close together to fit.

Did older Commanders have different sized grips or are these for a gun I've never heard of before?

Thanks

Screw holes have always been the same. I wouldn't swear to it but I'm not sure the Delta Elite 10mm had the same holes or not.

Ditto for the Double Eagle.

Take it to a gun show & have some old timer look at them.

Look again...is that a Colt logo or a Sile logo? Sile made grips for Colt as well as for themselves, but they occasionally put out stuff that was non-spec. I have also seen the older plastic grips that came on the pre-70 series GM and Commanders shrink if taken off the gun and stored. (I guess thst's what they did...I know I took them off of a new gun and a couple years later, the screw holes were...like these...just a little too close...twice!)
