I recently started working on my rimfire collection again and I have a 10/22 I finished and put a red dot on and I wanted a couple 25 round mags. I bought a butler creek 25 rounder at academy and it is just plain horrible, won't feed and is very loose in the mag well. My question is which 25 rd mags are the best for 10/22? Reliability is my biggest concern.

Try a Ruger magazine in your Ruger rifle.

I had the same luck with the butler creek mags. The new Ruger 25rd mags are much much better. I havent had any issues with mine yet.

Search "Ruger BX-25".

I have four of them, zero problems.

The TI-25 mags from Tactical Innovations are nice too.

The BX-25's are a lot easier to get though, and cheaper.

I dropped my BX-25 on the concrete by accident. I was worried until reloaded and fired 25 rounds down range. Good magazine. I need to get a couple more.

If you are looking for some BX-25's, Midway has them back on sale through the end of Monday as part of a second chance Cyber Monday sale. Glad they did that as I just picked up a 10/22 on Friday

Midway has these on sale for $17.99 ( I think) until midnight tonight.

I have certainly had better luck with BX-25's over the old Steel Lips mags, but still have noticed a different "height" between mags. I have 8 BX-25's, and only half run in 2 of my 4 rifles.

I picked up 2 of the BX-25's from Miway. Both fit a little sloppy. I had hoped being OEM they would be tighter. Compared to the regular 10 rounder the depth is shallower. I haven't range tested yet.

Range test those babies and then come back and tell us how they work! I have some of the "other brands" and the Butler Creeks have not been too bad. But, my new Ruger mags are the cat's @ss and work perfectly. LIke I said, try them and let us know.

Anyone know the best place (cheapest) to get some of the BX-25's now that Midway is back to MSRP?

cdnn has them in specials for $20 (limit 3). too bad you missed out on $5 shipping that ended yesterday but its still a pretty good deal (just buy more stuff ) .

In my 10/22T the BX-25's work fine with the cheapo bulk stuff (CCI Blazer, Federal fodder, Aguila).

But they misfeed and jam like a motherfucker with Wolf or any of the higher-end ammo like Eley Match. The standard 10 round Ruger mags work fine.

I bought a BX-25 with my Ruger 10/22 Tactical and the first time I tried it I had problems. It would feed one round and the next one would be stuck in place. I'd have to take it out and tap it to get the spring to push the next round up. It did it every time I put it back in there. I took it apart and it was all clean. Put it back together and loaded up again. This time I cycled the rounds through by hand a few times until it would finally feed the whole mag. I haven't had a problem with it since in about 400 rounds.

My TI mags hate Federal bulk ammo. Always binds up. Loves CCI, though.

The BX-25 and the Butler Creek Hot Lips are good....but for the money, my next 1022 mags will be Ruger.

OF course, you can never go wrong with the plain Jane 10 rounder Rugers either....

I've had good luck with the steel lips ones from Butler Creek. I think those are called Hot Lips right?

Over the years my 10-rounders just work...I picked up two of the BX-25's this week and will test on Saturday...bullshit comments forthcoming.

The BC Hot Lips mags have the plastic feed lips and mag locks. Most people stay away from those. The BC Steel Lips (those are the steel ones) are better than the Hot Lips.

I'm hoping to get out this Sunday for a test. I'll put about 100 thru my 10/22 and 500 thru my dedicated AR22. I usually only use my 10/22's for hunting and my AR for fun plinking. I only picked up the BX-25 mags cause I couldn't help myself. If they are gtg I will buy more to sit on.

I just bought two Ruger Bx-25 mags from CDNN for 20 bucks. I range tested today and one mag functioned great with bulk Federal. The other mag would no feed due to the rounds getting stuck in the mag. I paln to take apart to try and fi x.

I did have the Bulter Creek mags and they were really loose in the mag well and would not feed.

Bought one from my local general store...paid $25
Took it out today about an hour or so east of home...I feed it Rem Golden bullet junk...ate it just fine. One FTF but that's the junk ammo.
Ran about 100 rounds through with no mag issues.
Seated tight, very little wiggle, looks good...and...It Works!!!!

pic of course with a few other random cell pics from today...

New Rem870 with Hogue 12 lop stock and forearm - great set up....
