Only thing I can think of is it might let you "legally" have a barrel shorter than 16". Supposedly, optimum barrel length for .22 velocity is about 14", according to some tests I've read.

Frankly, the thing sounds like another case of "first kid on the block to have one" to me.

think its a great option but he cpc only offers it for the ruger target bbl.

dont worry about legal length cause he doesnt shorten the bbl. just recess the crown and bbl. length stays the same.

the benefit is having a great smith redo the crown and not having to worry about accidently damaging the crown afterwards.
