Im looking on their website and the price for moving a dovetail sight is $50. Isn't that rear sight a dovetail? And I guess the front one isnt?

EDIT- Nevermind, haha, I realize now youre only having to move the front sight.

This is convenient with the TD. You only have to ship the barrel section. Whereis the best place to buy the 77/22 sights from?

Bought mine from brownells, put them in a order with some other stuff I needed.

Does he include a thread protector? If not, what protector would fit? (I don't have a silencer but would like the barrel chopped and I figure I might as well have it threaded just in case).

Second silly question...would 10/22 tech sights still fit the front sight fine? (I assume so...)

No he doesnt do thread protectors. I bought mine from ewk for 6 bucks and a little shipping I think it was like 10 bucks total. Its just their knurled 1/2-28 stainless thread protector. Search google and a number of them will come up. Yes its the same dovetail as the stock one, tech sites still work.

Brownells has a ton of thread protectors. Mine is a Lone Wolf Dist. meant for installing on a threaded Glock barrel. I just wanted one as small and cheap as possible.

SGTlmj,

Did you have any difficulty installing the rear sling swivel? Several people have suggested that the stock wall is too thin to hold a screw.

Great project. I love my 10-22 TD.

Plenty of material at the seam. If it ever rips out I'll just goop in some epoxy.

I ordered one of those AGP folders, today. Don't even own a 10/22 at the moment but seeing yours inspired me to build one similar.

Nce takedown op, but i am wondering how much fps loss will you get going down to 16 inches? Is it less than 100??

Dunno. I shoot subsonics suppressed through it most of the time. FPS loss is desired to keep the boolits subsonic.

What recoil pad will work on this stock? AR?

That stock and a 10/22 are a great match.

Op. that looks awesome. Think I might have to buy a takedown and do the same things.

Diggin' this thread! Bought my first 10/22 over 30 years ago and have a couple more since. Being unthreaded is what stopped me from getting a TD, because who knows when Ruger will do it. Cool to see experiments with other stocks too. Gotta go get a TD soon.

this.

My brother has a 10/22 VLEH that I have shot 0.302 groups with lapua ammo (@ 50M), I wonder what a takedown would do.

Nice. Mine looks like yours. Had High Speed Shooting Systems do mine and my friend's takedown.
Might have to look at stock options now. Didn't know there were any choices out there yet.

How you like your TD? I've really been thinking about picking one up. Is it accurate? Any advice on what to change? etc...

If I'm reading the calguns thread right, the owner machined it himself. I clicked the link shortly after asking who did the work. It looks to be an easy operation, as long as you have the measurements. Turn down a portion of the barrel shank to the right diameter and add the angled cut-I've been toying with the idea of getting a .17HMR conversion and machining that for my takedown receiver, but the takedown parts themselves aren't available for separate purchase-Ruger says factory installation only.

Is there anyone yet making an aftermarket barrel for the takedown that comes threaded with thread protector?

Most likely with threads way too long for suppressor use without a spacer or a re-thread job like all the other threaded 10/22 rifles.

Do it the right way instead or wait for aftermarket support if your gonna use a suppressor imo:

This is the exact gun into which I could transform my new TD. But so far, it doesnt appear anyone is doing the work for the public.

I would like this exact rifle, but with a threaded barrel. The only other issue is that I am a bit concerned about buying my second suppressor with all the craziness going on. I am all set to buy a Silencerco SS Sparrow for my rimfire can. Just concerned about BS new laws if we as Americans turn to complete cowards and allow the government to officially declare our founding documents null.

Sorry for getting off topic. Great thread.

If anyone knows of anybody doing complete TD customs, let me know.

Anybody know where I can get a takedown for a decent price? They seem to be around $450+ on gunbroker. Also, aren't they supposed to come with the 25rd mag?

I got mine from my dealer a couple days before Christmas, but I paid retail. I think it was like $310 for the takedown. I got lucky and called him right as he received a shipment from Ruger. He literally had seemingly every configuration Ruger offers. I bought both my takedown, as well as a (supposedly 1 of 100 LOL) Zombie Stopper version for my youngest 2 daughters.

Back on topic, What do you guys think of the AGP stock overall? I like the folder concept, but only want it if it will increase accuracy or at a minimum, not decrease it. I am wanting a fully customized TD. Including heavy custom barrel. Just wondering if the AGP meets this standard?
Link Posted: 12/29/2012 7:39:29 PM EDT
Just bought the take down and love it. Also interested if accuracy is effected with the AGP stock.

Mine didn't come with one. Just came with the standard ten rounder. It did come with an ad stating that the case will hold up to 6 of the BX25s though.
