RAZOR 80% receiver, finished on my mill
Ruger polished bolt
Tactical Innovations target trigger pack with auto bolt release, lightened pull weight to ~2 lb
TacSol threaded lightweight barrel
Hogue Ghillie Green stock
Osprey 3-9x42 illuminated scope (swore I'd never buy one, but come on, it's a .22)
Cheap bipod

Everything went right together, had to do a bit of fitting to the ejector because it was rubbing the bottom of the bolt a bit.

Also, one of the hole locations on the RAZOR instructions was off by about 0.030" and would have kept the trigger pack from going in if I hadn't caught it.

I bored the barrel undersized in the receiver and installed the barrel with a freezer+oven snug fit and used an anti-droop v-block, so the barrel is practically dead-nuts parallel to the receiver, as verified on the mill after tightening.

I whittled out a little delrin wedge to push down on the rear of the trigger pack and keep the action from tipping forward, an easier fix than installing a custom rear receiver bolt.  Now the barrel floats dead center, and the stock doesn't flex enough to touch it.

Ran a few mags of standard velocity Blazer through it last night before I put the scope on, not a single failure.

Trust is now set up, and I'm trying to pick out a can for it...

Crappy phone pictures:

So, question now is, which can? I'll just have to see what's in stock at the local places... My usual place only stocks the Mite.

I'm going to have to tinker around on the mill and see if I can come up with a better auto bolt lock than the one on the market for when I get the can...

Maybe a design that locks the charging handle crossbar into the top of the receiver if the handle is twisted or pushed downward, and then cycle normally if left alone...

Go with the SS Sparrow.  It's rated up to 5.7x28 so you can use it for a variety of rimfire as well as the 5.7.  I'm waiting on my form 4 to be approved for one right now.

Wow!!

Thanks for the heads up on that... I have both the 10/22 and a 5.7, I did some reasearch and already did my trust and have it all notorized and ready to go just never came around to picking a suppressor and now i think i found "the first one".

Now i couldnt find a place that has the internals for the 5.7 does it come with the suppressor or has to be purchased seprately?

The new Stainless Sparrow is 5.7 rated out of the box, same internals, or do you mean the thread mount section?
The factory FiveSeven threaded barrel comes with M10x1 and you'll need the aftermarket adapter to 1/2x28 threads

Tornado Technologies and Jarvis both make them.

Your post reminded me I have an 80% stainless receiver kicking around somewhere I never finished.  How hard was it to finish out?

Depends on what they called 80% at the time I guess, this was easier than my 80% AR receivers...

The most critical part is the barrel bore position and alignment, I used a mini-vise clamped in my mill vise and used a dial indicator to make sure the receiver was straight.  Drilled three sizes then reamed to finish the hole. All said and done it came out dead-nuts straight.

Operations on the Razor were:

-barrel bore (through solid)

-v-block mount holes (drill, counterbore, tap)

-stock screw hole (drill, tap)

-trigger pack holes (drill)

-buffer hole (drill)

-recoil spring rest pocket (spot face with a long 1/8" drill, not too critical, just keeps the guide rod from wiggling)

-front mag catch pocket (long 5/16 drill to reach the 3deg face and drill a shallow pocket)

I was looking for internals.. I assumed they had to be changed from .22lr to 5.7x28.

The suppressor would be used on a PS90 and AR57 upper so 1/2x28 threads :)

I'm pretty sure these are the same operations that have to be done on mine.   I don't have a mill, so the barrel was the part that held up the whole thing.  I even bought a 11/16th drill bit, but knew it was the wrong way to do it.  Maybe someday.

+1 million. I have the AL Sparrow, and love it. Will probably order a SS sparrow eventually. I was going to send mine in for a re-build, but 2 .22 cans is better than one

How do you like that scope? I bought one about a year ago for my Ultimate 10/22, but I didn't like it. Not enough eye relief. I think I'm going to but mine on one of my AR 15's.

Not enough eye relief?  At 3x it's got up to 6" of relief before you start fish-eying, and maybe 4" at 9x...
It's the 3-9x Compact AR scope, if that makes any difference...

Of course quality and clarity is nowhere near the good name brands, but for $150 on a .22 I can't complain...

Had a friend a couple years ago throw their "Ultimate super extra 6-24x sniper scope" or whatever on a 20" AR that I had built him and asked me to help him sight it in.  So i boresighted (with my eyeball) and fired 3, about a foot off at 100yd, adjusted, fired 3 more, same exact POI, made another adjustment, no change.  Then I set it down, tapped the top of the top turret with the butt of my knife a couple times, and watched the reticle "break free" and jump ~10 feet at 100yd.  The reticle had just been stuck in place and needed to be tapped to be freed.

It sighted in OK after that, but I swore I'd never buy an Osprey after that...  til I built a .22...

Skip the thread on can, sell your barrel, and get the YHM integral thats floating around GB.  Much quieter than a screw on.    Ive got both.....i know.

Tempting, and Upstate Armory Group (not far from me) has one for ~$500 BIN...

hmmm....  I'm still waiting on my tax refund check, I think I'm devoting about $1k of it this year to NFA stuff (couple form1's and a .22 suppressor)

ETA:
Would be even MORE tempting if the barrel wasn't already fitted and pressed into the receiver...  Maybe when this barrel wears out, I'll swap for an integral and put the thread-on can on a pistol...

Please.......just pull it out of the receiver.  No biggy.  Get the integral and a SS Sparrow and be done with your 22lr's.

Haha, that may require a torch....  It's freezer+oven+press tight, and I don't want to fubar the new barrel, especially if I'm looking to sell it...
I suppose I could always clamp the barrel in a barrel block in the vice and drive the receiver off of it...

Made it down to Upstate Armory Group over the weekend and SilentBob (as he's known on here) sold me a Gen1 Sparrow for a good deal.  I like being able to check the suppressor without completely threading it on/off the gun over and over to disassemble it.  The Gen2's cap is on the rear instead of the front, so it has to come completely off...

sanman, I think he's still got the integral YHM if you still want it.  He's got just about everything...
