My Mini-14's are back-ups to my AR's.  They are light, handy, reliable and shoot "minute of urban felon".  One of the (several) weak points about the Mini-14 is the supply of quality hi-cap magazines.  Factory 20 rounders are kinda available again, but ain't cheap.  Slightly under $40 ea. is what I have been seeing.  Geeez.  If I wanted a rifle that uses expensive hi-caps,  I would have bought a Sig or Beretta!!  PMI's used to be the "shiz".  Are PMI's even made anymore?  Does anybody know where to find new PMI's??

Triple-K and ProMag sell magazines for the Mini-14.  I think they come with a guarantee, but I have not heard good things about these brands for the Mini.   Masen supposedly has 10 rounders, but I have not seen any 20 rounders from Masen.

What have been your experiences lately with Mini-14 magazines?  Best quality/best prices?  Thanks,

Jeff

My Dept. just issued us Mini's for patrol rifles.  I wouldn't mind knowing who makes reliable mags as well.  I'd like to pick up a few for spares.

Most folks will tell you that the Ruger factory high caps are the most reliable.  I think Ruger will only sell their high-caps to LEO's, so you should be able to get factory mags with no problems.  The rest of us have to "scrounge" around to get the good stuff.

$35 each unless you buy 20 mags...ouch!  Are you re-selling them at gunshows or something?  My wife would lose it big time if I bought a case of 20 $31 magazines.   That's like two weeks worth of groceries for the growing family...lol.

If your life may be at stake, there are only two choices.

#1) Factory mags
#2) PMI

I've been buying the PMI 40 rounders for $29.95...damn good mags, I also have been buying factory 20 rounders for around $30.

As was already said, either PMI or Ruger factory mags for when your life is on the line.

My 181 series Ruger GB will do me just fine till my SIG 556 comes in.

Sources for those buys?  Where does anyone sell new PMI's, or factory 20 rounders for $30?  Thanks,

Jeff
