I was going to try 155amax or another hornady. They have a good variety of soft point and ballistic tips.

Yes, 125 gr Nosler Green Ballistic tips. If you want deeper penetration on pigs, then maybe an Accubond 125 grain white tip. work up your loads but the best expansion will be at higher powder grains. Anything higher than 125 grains out of a 300 blackout may not expand enough at the velocities it can give.

Another nod for the 125 Nosler BT.
Barnes black tip TAC-TX would be another good option. |

The Nosler 125 Ballistic Tip is an outstanding bullet for the 300 and smaller game like Antelope and White tail.

I find the 125 gr Sierra's shoot very well with H-110. Use the hunting bullet.

I definitely want to stick with lighter projectiles, 125 grain and under. Anybody have experience with the 125 grain Pro Hunters in the BLK? I loaded up a few test rounds tonight, just as an experiment. I'll see how they shoot next week and if they can at least group I may consider them seeing as how none of the other bullets are available.

The Barnes 110gr Black tip are excellent at taking small game. Only problem is finding them.

A few years ago I contacted Sierra about their 125gr Pro Hunter. I wanted to use it in my 7.62 x 39 for Whitetails. I was told that the .308 125gr Pro Hunter was designed to hold up to much higher than the x29 could muster. He used the term "pencil through".
The Nosler BT has a Minimum impact velocity of 1600fps, should work well in the Blackout. |

I later switched to the Nosler 125 BT as I was able to get a tad better accuracy. 5 deer with the Noslers, no problems. |

I heard something similar. I guess the Pro Hunter is generally too hard for BLK velocities. I did see a video on youtube where a guy loaded some up and did a gel test. They penetrated deeply, but didnt expand until the last 6-8 inches of penetration. I'm going to Cabelas tomorrow, hopefully I'll have better luck. |

125 BT or Hornady SST. The 110 VMAX would probably do fine as well

I'll be using my AR pistol in 300 blackout with 165g SP over 14.5g of Lil' Gun for this years deer hunting. On a cold bore shot I was able to hit a paper plate at 100 yards. I've tested the 125g Pro hunters and they work well, but I like the heavier bullet to lower the recoil a tad.

Rather heavy bullet for hunting, I don't think you will get it to expand much at all. At 150 yards the Nosler 125Greentip barely expanded into wet newspaper. I am running the Barnes 110gr TTSX seated to 2.24" with 21.6gr of H110. Should be enough ummph to expand to 200 yards easy..

I'm hunting in shotgun zone and all the deer I've shot in the last 5 years, the farthest one was about 30 yards.
