A local vendor has some WCC once fired brass for .223.  He says he'll sell me 500 for $30 or 1000 for $50.  The primers are crimped in.  I was looking to get some Lake City once fired but I'm wondering if I should jump on this deal instead.  Does anyone have any experience with WCC brass for .223?  How does it hold up?  How consistent is it?  What kind of accuracy could I expect from it as compared to other brass?  Do you think Lake City would be a better choice?  Thanks in advance for all your input.

Good brass.

Sooner or later you will need to learn how to deal with the crimped primer pocket.

Read the tutorial at the top of the page for more info.

Winchester brass is pretty good, that is the majority of my stock.

If I'm correct, this stuff has a year stamped on it as well.  Should I sort it by year or is it pretty consistent from year to year?

Thanks

Good price..! You could possibly make a few bucks off that price if you're inclined to but *shrug*

+1 for WCC once fired.

I did a couple of group buys on it for the hometown board and it worked out well.

(I had it processed by a guy in Iowa for $30/K + $10/1.5K for S&H. Ended up right around $96/K with S&H and transport fees.

That brass is SOLID if you see an 01 or later head stamp. (thats all I have experience with ... I have not seen any WCC older than 01 in my buckets thus far)

Its VERY likely the bras is over the trim-to length...

WCC 84 is very common.  It seems Winchester gets contracted for large lots, but only sporadically?  It was a lot more common in the 60's.  I think I have some 04 or 06.  The thing that you have to watch is when any of the brass manufacturers redesign the case as far as dates.  An example would be 30-06 WCC 62 and earlier and WCC 63 and later; those cases were different inside, in the webbing.  I have never heard of differences in 5.56 cases by the same manufacturer.  Other than that the lot to lot and date don't differ too much at all.

LC, WCC, Rem, Win, anything but Fed Eagle (FC) are good brass.

what's up with Fed Eag ?

WCC is real nice brass. Crimped primers add a extra set but you only need to deal with it once.

FC is crap, I scrap it right away.

Have you read any of the posts in this thread? It is the same as the WCC but without a primer crimp
