hello, first time using forum. I am interested in an a2 upper to use on a colt a3 lower should I consider something besides colt, say bushmaster or rock river? the accurized upper shoots fine but some hunting situations call for a lighter shorter rifle.   thanks!

Both Bushmaster and RRA make good uppers, and they may be easier on your wallet than another Colt upper.  What length are you wanting?

I prefer Bushmaster.  Can I ask why you are not interested in an A3?

the upper i have now is just too long at 24" so if i,m cyote huntin (with hounds) i need a light, fast  open sight for running game. does quality really factor in with some of the other brands, because yes the colt stuff is pricey.

In my opinion a 16" gov't profile is good for just about everything.

But I wouldnt turn down a 14.5" with permanent phantom either.

I've walked all over the desert hills with a 16" open sighted AR for jack rabbits and coyotes.  It works very well, light handy and simple.
