I want to buy an AR15 from www.model1sales.com.  I want an all purpose rifle, primarily for hunting predators at long ranges.  I want either a Varminter rifle or a Standard rifle.  My question is-

20" or 24" barrel?
Stainless or Chrome moly.
Fluted barrel?
Float tube and what kind?
What kind of sight(s)?
Carry handle?
I know nothing about A1, A2, and A3 parts.  what is preferable in quality of performance?
Lower receiver - what kind, if required?

I know Stainless barrels will shoot more rounds accurately but chrome moly shoot more accurate.  From what I have read I would deffinitely go with a 1-9" twist for multipurpose accuracy.  I have been told with Model1Sales that you should never buy their lower receivers, and if you do to install a JP trigger system because model1sales uses plastic parts in their trigger systems.  I want the best for the least money possible.  I have little money.  I prefer to spend within the $500 range.

Yeah, they're kinda required...

AFAIK, M1S does not even make lowers.
And I don't think there is a single mfr. that has plastic trigger groups.

Welcome to the site, but sit back, relax, and spend some time
really reading threads and search as best you can.

$500 won't get you much in the way of an AR, even if you're building it yourself.

1-9 isn't what I would call the most versatile twist rate. I'd prefer a 1/8 so you can go either way without being to extreme.

Plastic trigger parts? I've never heard that about anyone.

If you get a kit from M1S, you'll still need $180 or so for a complete lower by the time you include shipping, a transfer fee, and most likely a background check.

I have built several from model 1 sales.  Whoever is telling you they use plastic parts is full of shit.  While they are not the most expensive game in town, the parts I have gotten have all been of good quality.  I built a standard model and one of their 20" varminters.  It was a kit and I put a Mueller 8.5-20 scope on it.  Great prairie dog gun.  Both will hold sub MOA accuracy at 100yds.  Decent gun for the money, not top quality but good.  You will need to find a lower elsewhere.

The $500 range is going to be the hard part.
Especially for an accurate long range gun.

You will really need to spend at least $800 on the rifle,
and at least $200 on a scope and mount.

But to answer your question keeping in mind lowest cost possible, I would get
the Model 1 Sales Varmint Kit.
24" barrel, chrome moly, fluted.
get the standard float tube that comes with this kit.
get the stud installed so you can add a bypod.

If most of your shooting is going to be under 200 yards, I would get the 20" kit.

Get the M1Sales 1 piece scope mount, and a scope to your liking.
Personally I like Simmons for inexpensive but exceptible quality scopes.

As for back up Iron sights, just wait untill you have more money, because they will run you another $150-$200.

No need for the carry handle.
As for the JP trigger system, they are great, but if money is tight,
use the parts that come in the M1S kit and get the JP reduced power spring set for $10.
It won't give you a match trigger but it will drop the trigger pull by 3-4 lbs.

And get a lower receiver from Rock River Arms or Stag.  Don't buy it from the manufacture, get it from one of the Venders on this board. It will save you some money.  I picked these receivers because they are around $100 and plentiful.

Now here is the warning,
If you build this rifle, you will love the AR-15 platform, and over the next several years you will spend $1000s of dollars on more ARs and accessories.
So you might just wait untill you can save up another $1000 and get a better rifle right from the get go, because if you don't, in the end you will own a $2000 Varmit rifle, and this one will just collect dust.

20" or 24" barrel?  Accuracy is supposed to be the same, a little advantage on velocity with a 24"
Stainless or Chrome moly. Stainless, for varmint go with 1-8 twist
Fluted barrel? Slightly lighter but no other advantages
Float tube and what kind? Free float for a varmint rifle
What kind of sight(s)? Telescopic for a varmint rifle
Carry handle? Don't bother
I know nothing about A1, A2, and A3 parts.  what is preferable in quality of performance?
Lower receiver - what kind, if required? Stag Arms is a good one, check the EE for price and availability

If you want a varmint rifle you probably can't build it for less than around $700

If you want to buy from Model 1 sales, and want a varmint model, this is a good place to start:  www.model1sales.com/item-detail.cfm?ID=KV2000&storeid=1&image=V20k.gif
