i did a trade at the range yesterday with a gentleman that wanted my dcm service rifle ar15. he traded me a tricked out bushmaster varmit and another ar15. well here is the question, the second ar is on a bartlett enterprises lower with an a2 upper but the barrel on the upper is a 26 inch long h-bar marked as B MP 5.56 NATO H-Bar which i believe is bushmasters markings. when did bushie make these and what is the concensus on these barrels. the thing shoots great.

If I remember correctly, 1990-1996?, after that 24" became much more common.
I have some old Bushmaster catalogs around here somewhere, I'll see if I can dig them up and give you some exact dates.

Cool. Thanks for posting. I've never seen a 26-incher before.

Do you know the twist rate? What type of ammo does it prefer?

it is a bushie 1/9 twist hbar and it has liked all the different types i have tried so far, 45g, 55g, 62g, and 69g. it didn't care for the 75's and up.

If you ditch that FSB you could put on a super long custom FF quad rail and have more goodies than any other rifle ever.  You could fit a harris by pod, a mono pod, and grip pod on it...plus you would still probably have room for tripod mount right by the magazine well.  You would be ready for any situation ever.  Just think about it.  This rifle has serious potential. Hell I would be surprised if you still couldn't get an M203 tucked under there even after the all the pods.

I would so love to see a custom made bayonet for that thing.  What is the overall length of that beast?
