18' Chrome Moly 1/8 right hand twist by compass lake enginering

12' larue tactical free float hand gaurd

DMPS lower

magpul psr stock

flat top a3 upper

(if you need any more info just ask...)

friend gave me an aimpoint compml 2 4mao but i want more of a scope i want to use my ar to reach out to 500 yard
(because the m16 max effective range is around there so i figure my build which is better should be able to do that easy)
so bassicly i want a good TACTICAL scope ( that can take a lil beating and still hold zero) for $500 or under
my plan is to sell off the aimpoint and buy this new scope ( also if you have one lying around that people post
is a good one and want to trade PM me)

p.s. i want a mil-dot reticle if possible

thats what im looking at now, is it good? can it take a beating and hold zero?

Leupold Mark 4's? hell yes.

I have a Mark 4 4.5-14 x 50 on my .308 Rem 700. You could beat somebody to death with any Mark 4 and it would hold zero.

I use a Mark AR 3-9 x 40 on my SR-556. It's inexpensive and does the job to 200yds. Not sure how it would go to 500.
I've got the mark AR in a Larue QR so I can easily swap it out and mount my XPS.

+1 on the Mark4.  I have a LRT 3.8-10 x 40 TMR on my 18" SPR.  The Nightforce 2.8-10 would also be an excellent choice.

Brother, that's such a loaded question. It's like asking what tires should I put on my truck. All depends what you'll be doing with it. Since you have an 18" barrel I'll assume you're into precision/ accuracy. If that's the case with this gun then you need to take a hard look at a variable 2.5 - 10 power scope. Something with a mil-dot or a precision reticle. If you're just going to be shooting steel plates and speed is an issue then an Acog would be my choice.

Nightforce Optics makes an EXCELLENT 2.5-10 x 32 scope with an illuminated reticle. I happen to have an 18" LaRue Stealth and that's what I run. My personal choice but there are numerous Special Ops groups that use Nightforce.

Hope this helped you. I don't claim to be an expert by any means. It's just my opinion..

From what I can tell those scopes are over double my price range! But I do like the zeroing feature :-)

Look at the Millet TRS scopes, I have been reading reviews on them and seems like people are very happy with the TRS, and are comparing the clarity to the Leupold Mark series scopes.

I plan on getting one for my next AR10 build
