don't flame me for this,  i'm jsut curious.  it seems that one site would be plenty to be on target,  but i see many AR owners with more than one site on their firearm,  plus the irons.

what's the point?

Perhaps the best argument for having an optic and irons cowitnessing is the KISS principle.  You shoulder the weapon and sight it in the same way, every time.  There is no need to change your shooting position/grip/stance to transition from irons to the optic, it is all together.  That is why so many cowitness.
