1/9 is probably the most common on commercial barrels, and it works fine so long as you dont go crazy with the really heavy bullets(77 grain and up)

I have a 1x7 (current Govt. twist)
most rifles sold and desired all have 1x9 - dont belive all you read about twist because every gun has its own harmonics, every gun has its own likes and dislikes when talking ammo. If you want to shoot heavy gr. then I suggest a 1x8 because your in the middle of the road. 1x9 is also fine for 85-90% of the ammo being sold. Remember most ammo sources are 55-62 gr. = 1x9 for affordable ammo. |

1/7 would be my top choice, but 1/9 works just fine for most loads up to 75 grain.

What barrel length? How far do you intend to shoot? Most 20" 1:9 barrels will shoot 75 gr with no problems. If the barrel is 16" or shorter, and you intend to shoot the heavy bullets, then a 1:7 would be better. If you don't intend to shoot heavier than 69 gr, a 16" 1:9 barrel will be more than enough.

I just bought a Oly Arms M4 but there is no indication of what the twist rate is (like marked on my Colt HBAR), can anyone tell me what the twist rate is and what bullet weight is optimum for 200 yards and closer?

That would be a 1:9 twist on your Olympic. Since I never shoot anything over 62gr I don't know why I have all these 1:7s running around
