[ARCHIVED THREAD] - what other calibers are available

These are the ones I know of:
5.56/223
7.62x39
6.8 sps
6.5 grendel
22 lr
What I want is a deer caliber, can not legaly use 223, not that I want to. Would prefer factory ammo availble, but not absoulutely necessary.

I believe 6.8 will be as rare as hens teeth.
7.62x39 weak and feed problems.

6.5 grendel seams to be exspensive to shoot and reload, can the brass easily be made from another case.

I would like to have something close to the 270 win performance level if possible. Is that a pipe dream in the ar15. (I know I could get an ar10)

I saw an ad, I'll try to find it, for .300RSUM or .300 Remington Short Ultra Mag, whatever it is. Very hard hitting round to say the least.

Pretty much any round that can fit through the magazine well has been shot through the AR-15 platform.

I thought the 300 rsum was in the ar10 rifle. From the list it looks like the 6.5 grendel would be the best for deer. I would prefer something easier to get brass for, what about 300 whisper anyone make brass for that yet.
