This has probably been asked before, but here goes.  For mounting a scope on a flat top, will the medium height rings allow a scope to clear a standard front sight or do I need the high rings ?

 What magnification optic?
Anything over 3X will "look past" the FSB. You will just get a little shadow in the lower part of the reticle.
Med rings will probably give most people a problem with cheek weld, can't get your head low enough the see a clear reticle picture. High will be more comfortable and align the optic with your eye better. IMHO
