anybody have experiences?   does the 3 power make that much of a difference?  over the 2x

i would like it to replace my aimpoint.

i prefer the 2x...the 3x has extremely short eye relief.  the 2 is a good compromise between a reflex sight and a full size ACOG.

I have the TA 50-4 mounted on the carry handle of an A4. I had to drill a hole further back for proper eye relief but I really like the set up. I use iron for under 200 yards and have the scope sighted for 300 yards. I is a great combination for some one who likes irons for up close with a scope for further out.

Trijicon has a new Compact ACOG coming out. I have no model #, and I dont know how much it costs. What I do know is that it is a 3x Comp ACOG that has very generous eye relief and a bullet drop compensated chevron reticle. Loofed pretty nice. Eye relief was about that of the 2x. Saw it at Shot Show, Im sorry I didnt get any pictures.

Oh crap... (wallet running away)

i went with the 2x due to the eye relief but if trijicon is coming out with a 3x without the short eye relief then that is worth waiting for

I got a ta50-4 recently, and it has a lot more eye relief than 1.4 inches.  My scope is mounted about in the middle of my receiver where I have to have a nose to charging handle position to get a complete sight picture.  I do not need the full sight picture unless I'm using the magnification only, and it is easier for me to use BAC without a full sight picture.  As far as losing the sight picture, it doesn't happen if you are familiar with your rifle and how you hold it.  As far as washout goes, you have a big black cross instead of nothing at all like a red dot.
I have never used a 2x so I have no comparison, only praise for the ta50

edited to add:
It will not replace your aimpoint.  It is not all that precise using BAC, but sometimes (depending on what its used for) the 3x beats out the need for reflex precision and BAC is good enough to get it done.
