i am running a Rock River Arms Tactical M4 with a 16" Stainless Steel barrel, with a CAR length free float handguard from YHM. i want to reduce the weight of the gun becuase it is front heavy. I have a EOTech 512 R. F and also a Leapers 3-9X40 scope. I have put about 500 rounds through it without cleaning it and it is shooting right on the money at 50 feet or so. DAMN ranges. Anyways i want to flute the barrel to decrease weight. SHould i do this or not do this. ALso from what it looks like the end of barrel where the flash hider is is smaller than the front. Not sure if that makes a difference. I just wanna reduce weight without scarificing ACCURACY AND RELIABLE WITH A SS barrel.

please let me know.
i am not m4 savy at all

thanks

FELLOW M4 LOVER

Out of curiousity, I'd love to see a pic of your setup.

I've never heard of anyone fluting an M4 profile barrel. I'm guessing that due to its thinner diameter, it would be prone to damage if fluted.

You bought a heavy barrel with a M203 cutout, if you are looking to save weight, you might want to just look at a new barrel/ upper.

You can get under the handguards fluted, but I don't think you will see a massive difference.
