I have a bottle of remington bore cleaner... not sure what it contains though it does say it has petroleum distillate. It says it effctively removes lead, copper, carbon and plastic wad fouling, and contains NO CFC's.. It also says only to be used on bore. Is this safe to use on an ar15 with a chrome lined barrel? I have had it for a few years but I think I only used it once on my kimber govt 22 rimfire target rifle.

IIRC it contains DE (diatomaceous earth) and cleans via mechicnal action. Shake that sucker up and put a drop in your fingers and rub. I never saw a need to use it on a ar bore, esp one that is Cl.

Iuse it only on shotgun barrels to remove heavy lead build up.

It's not for .22 LRs, but is ok for an AR.

It is safe, as are other abrasives like JB and USB. It is usually not necessary, though. I use it on some very high round count uppers. What's impressive is how much crap it will pull out after you think you're done with standard NH3 type solvents.
