TA01NSN has the Flat top base already mounted and has the backup sights on top of the scope. The TA01 is just the ACOG scope itself. The reticle is also different, I could be wrong tho.

No, you have it rght, the TAO1 reticle is set to be mounted on the carry handle of a 20" gun, the TAO1nsn reticle is made to be mounted to a flat top rifle with a 14.5" barrel. This makes the reticles appear slightly different when looking at them side by side. In addition, in reduced or no light, TAO1 generally has a fully illuminated red reticle. TAO!nsn generally has a pale yellow reticle illuminated only in the center.
These differences are in addition to the two already mentioned... TAO1nsn comes with a flat top mount and back up iron sites with a tritium insert. TAO1 does not. |

No on both questions. I say go with the regular TA01. The red reticle (and the fact that the whole thing is illuminated) is better than the amber center illumination, IMHO. The iron sights on the NSN model isn't that important, at least to me. I think the positives of the TA01 outweigh the negatives and I think the positives of the TA01 outwiegh the positives of the TA01 NSN. Although in the end, if you have a choice, I'd go with one of the BAC models instead of any of the TA01s. |
