I have a PWA lower 0004XXX, is this post ban or preban. My understanding is that PWA used a year prefix on the postban, but that would assume a year of 2000?

I have seen an example of a lower serial# PWA and it did not have 000 prefix.

My understanding is that pwa was gone prior to 2000?

Is it an A-1 style lower?......if so...It's pre-94 ban for sure.

I'm not sure what the cutoff was (want to think it was around 30,000), but don't think the serial number has any relationship to the manufacture date.

My highest number PWA gun is 0028XX....

UXB is a PWA enthusiast....perhaps he will chime in

it is a A1 and the upper that it has is an A1 also.

PWA did not use a year pre-fix.

Yours is well below the number to qualify as a pre-ban receiver.

EDIT Sorry about the confusion - I did not read the original post closely enough.

#35222 and below is the cut-off for "pre-ban" lower receivers.

This is in the FAQ section:

PWA (360) 438-3983
35222 and Below - Pre-Ban (Note:Some lowers are cast not forged. Out of business) Post-ban have a year prefix in the serial number. Rumored to have only sold lowers.

I do not believe this is entirely correct as I have "post-ban PWAs all the way up into the 50000 serial number range and none of them have year prefixes...

Best thing to do would be post a pic of the receiver and we can go from there.

My lowest S/N's are in the 61XX range. These were purchased new in 1989. Yours is obviously older, therefore it is clearly a "pre-ban".
