I bought the SEBR Spikes /22LR upper and also ordered a MI gas block sight. I installed it properly and looked tonight and saw that it cants to the side.  You can see from the pics that there is a difference in space on the rail causing the whole site to cant.  Is this normal with MI sights?  Any thoughts, suggestions, etc?   Thanks for your help.  Alan

Personally before trying to fit this by any grinding etc.... I'd call MI and send them this pic.   It doesn't look right to me.
Cheers.

Does the clamp down cap flip upside down? Maybe the clamp needs flipped over.

the retentionscrew is toward the rear aspect and low, so there is only one way for the clamp to be attached properly.  I thought the same thiing at firat but it can only be attached one way

no, really though! do you have a flat top upper you can mount the mi flip up to? if it's straight then its your gasblock. if it still cants then i would send it back to midwest.

may just be me but i think i see the sight causing the problem.

edit: upon looking again, and im guessing this is allready mounted to your gasblock. but i think your sight is backwards. i thought the mi lettering faces the enemy!

I would send it back to where you bought it and get a refund if possible.  I had purchased a MI front sight/gas block combo a few weeks ago and was very disappointed with the quality.  I sent it back and got a refund.  The cut in the top of the sight above the square blade was terribly off center and the overall finishing was very rough.  I would get the Troy front sight if I were you.

Does TROY make a GAS BLOCK front sight?  I have Troy for all my sights except this one.

THE MI normally does face the enemy, but not with the gas block sight; you have to reverse it so it will fold flat along the barrell. (height difference)

Picture is a little blurry. But do the rail cuts look familiar? I am supposed to have a new one on it's way from MI. They said they would have me one in a couple days. Did not mention return of this one. I assume there will be return information with the new one. Looked it over when I got it. Did not even notice it. Mounted on rail.(Midwest also) Noticed I could see a little more of the mounting screw than usual. Still did not set in. Flipped sight up and thought WTF.[>:/] This is the pic I sent my distributor.

The retension side is correct. The ninety degree angle on the other side, coming down from the horizontal shelf, is not supposed to be there.

I like MI products. This is the first problem I have had. As far as gas block sights, I have never used a railed gas block. I always use FF rails that extend over the gas block. I can see from reading on here that the gas block rails can be a problem. I read a thread on here a couple days ago. And actually it was on MI's industry forum about a guy that could not zero his front sight. What it wound up being was the gas block was not the right height. And I think it gave the different heights for different manufacturers gas blocks.

I think if I was just set on keeping a carbine length handguard, I would just get a one piece gas block with folding sight. That way there would be no question as to what works with what. I'm hoping my new sight shows up today. But with the holidays it may not be here till Saturday or Monday. I will keep you updated on its condition. But you need to contact MI or your distributor for replacement. If nothing else I would post a link to this thread over in MI's industry forum. I'm sure they will take care of you.

Terry

ETA: MI also makes a one piece front sight / gas block. May be able to work something out on one of them.

PRI makes one also. Just looked at on on Bravo Co.'s website. They also have a YHM. There is not many to choose from that I am seeing. Maybe someone else will chime in with more suggestions.
