I am sure this has been addressed before, but here goes, looking at a mid 1980`s sp-1 all orginal, very low round count for $1100, buy it, offer $1000 or look for an older one? buying for long term investment, allready have a armilite flat top for shooting. thanks for your opinion.

$1000 seems like a good price - $1100 would probably be average, certainly not a ripoff or anything.  

I'd try to offer a little under $1000 and see if you can agree on $1000.  Try telling him your wife won't let you spend more than that.
