Finally got this thing assembled and took it to the range for the first time.

"Buy once, Cry once" build list:
Lothar-Walther 7.5" stainless barrel, 1/8 twist polygonal rifling, 5.56mm chamber
Adams Arms PDW piston kit with free float rail from arfcom group buy
Adams Arms dedicated piston upper receiver from arfcom group buy
Spikes Tactical lower receiver with SBR engraving by Ident Marking
BCM MPI bolt
POF roller cam pin
BCM Gunfighter charging handle
Daniel Defense lower parts kit
Magpul MOE trigger guard
Geissele SSA trigger
Spikes Tactical pistol buffer tube and ST-T2 buffer
AAC Blackout flash hider
Troy Folding Battlesights
ikickhippies SLAP plate
Ergo grip

The Form 1 went pending on 6/25/10. When it comes back I'll be adding a Magpul MOE stock and mil spec receiver extension. I have an Aimpoint Micro T-1 and Larue mount on order, should be here next week.

Today was just to sight in the irons and function test. It ran 100% with no issues at all. Cleanup was incredibly easy - there was virtually nothing in the receiver. The Geissele SSA is awesome. Even with my bad eyesight and the folding sights the last three round group was 1/2" ctc (50 yds from a bench). And for those that think 7.5" ARs are range toys, this one will be riding in my squad with me. The whole "won't fragment" argument applies only if you're limited to FMJ ammo. I'll be carrying Barnes 55 gr. TSX's, which will expand completely down to 1900 fps and partially even slower, making this a legitimate 150 yard PDW. And a lot handier to grab than a 16" M4 when exiting the car.

Das purdy.  really though, these piston systems for shorties really make me want one.  Very nice weapon sir.  The MOE stock will be a perfect addition to it.

Very nice. Where are you getting the 55 gr. TSX? I can't find them here.
I may rey a piston system. My only concern is the block not being pinned. The block takes a beating from the piston.

I got the 55 gr. TSXs from Midway.

I don't think the gas block is going to be an issue. It's a very tight fit on the barrel, and there's a .024 gap between the piston and the gas block when the piston is all the way forward. No contact.

Thanks. I was under the impression the piston bottomed out in the gas block.

I got the Federals for duty and a couple boxes of the TSXs for reloading. The group shown was shot with FMJ Winchester Q3131A.
