My buddy just got some .223 on stripper clips froma friend and the boxes are labeled with " Made in R.P. by Arms Corporation of the Phillipines" what is this and what is r.p?  the headstamp is labeled  "S B M C 223"   my first thought was sellier and bellot, but im not sure, being it could be made in the Phillipines.  Thanks.

How about Subic Bay Munitions. That would be my guess. Its probably loaded on American equipment. I'm sure someone around here knows more about it than I do.

SB is Squires Bingham which is now Armscor, which is Filipino. Decent plinking ammo. A little dirty. I have about 200 rounds of it in stripper clips sitting around.

R.P. = Republic of the Philipines???

i have some of this ammo but mine has silver primers making me think that it might be reloads. does anybody know if these came from the factory with silver or brass colored primers?

Mine is headstamp SBMC 223 and has silver colored primers. I'm pretty sure its factory, its in stripper clips, in boxes, in a bandoleer.

that is exactly how mine are so looks like they are good to go. i just get a little worried when i see silver primers because most surplus uses brass colored primers and silver primers are very common with reloaded ammo.
