It not the best but it works and I can also take the aimpoint off and turn the recticle on and use the NV for longer shots. But I only use it for coyotes. If I was to use it for personal defense I would use my PVS7 or (love to have) pvs14

It a US Nightvision Model 241m gen 2.If you do a search google.com you can find them for around 1,000-1,100 I sold my PVS4 and got this one. The PVS4 was way to heavy and this one weighs in at 1.8Lbs. Heres some pic taken looking though the digital camera.

the barn is right out 300yrds and I am using the surefire w/ IR cover
