Whos sponsoring that bill? Is this a current bill in the NY legislature? You should post a link to the bill text.

NY peeps should post a link in their forums and the legislative calendar, you can look up individual bills and then post when hearings are held. They also need to see what support if any it has in their legislature.

That bill is fucked up.

Unbelievable, simply unbelievable. If I were a citizen of NY I would ask these scumbag politicians (yes, these particular politicians have earned the "scumbag" trademark for this statement alone) for data to back up this claim. Not only are these butt droppings being unconstitutional but they are insulting everyone's intelligents at the same time.....at least gun owner's intelligents anyways.

I am willing to bet that Texas will be the last bastion of gun sanity in the US.

This bill in NY doesn't surprise me, seriously, look at the senators. Chucky and Hillary? I love the part, and it's been pointed out, that gun owners don't even think these rifles should be legal. Come again? I don't know a gun owner that wouldn't atleast like to have an AR/AK or something. What gets me is that stuff like forward handles and barrel shrouds scares the shit out of them. What makes them think that someone willing to commit a crime with a firearm will go forth and commit said crime while adhering to "gun control" laws? Idiots...

What is NY trying to take the title away from CA as the worst state in the country.

If this is true, you NY-ers better get busy... busy either fighting this or moving.

WOW....looks almost verbatim to CA's 2k law, which finally did away with most semi-auto's there.

Link Posted: 1/13/2006 9:14:41 AM EDT
This is ludicrous. I would be calling my State legislators immediately.

If not, I would file a lawsuit against this. It is gun confiscation and a permanent database of all gun owners who owned an AR before January 2007? Sounds to me that they are building that database for future confiscations, like your pistols and shotguns as well.

Christ, do we ever need a SCOTUS ruling that states the 2nd Amendment cannot be infringed upon.

I feel for you NY'ers - and as an LEO my thoughts are that everyone (read no felons or mental whack jobs) should be allowed to own firearms.

Similar:

"How a politician stands on the Second Amendment tells you how he or she views you as an individual...as a trustworthy and productive citizen, or as part of an unruly crowd that needs to be lorded over, controlled, supervised, and taken care of." - Rep. Suzanna Hupp of Texas

I work with many liberal moonbats (campus of a major university). In the parking lot, I still see Kerry/Edwards bumperstickers.

I have asked this question on more than one occasion to the "Kanye Crowd" ('George Bush hates black people'): If you don't like the military, and don't trust the gov't (especially the Bush administration), why are you so ready, willing, and eager to give them a monopoly on the use of force in this country?

I haven't had a straight answer yet; just a bunch of hem-hawing.

FUCKIN' A. who the hell comes up with this shit. You guys in new york need to fight like hell against this. And same for any bill like it any wear. Once one bullshit bill passes, it just clears a path for more bullshit!. what do they think banning guns will accomplish? crime rates wont go down and people wont be any safer w/o them. when will they learn. And wear the hell did they get the idea that gun owners dont like guns ( or "assult weapons" in this case )? are they on crack? if guns owners did like them or think that citizens should have them, then they would spend thousands of dollars on them every year. and brfore i forget ... fuck hillary.

Laws that forbid the carrying of arms... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man. --- Thomas Jefferson in "Commonplace Book," 1774-1776, quoting from On Crimes and Punishment, by criminologist Cesare Beccaria, 1764
