I took my daughter with me to the range yesterday. She has previously shot .22s, but no big bores or handguns. We started on the pistol range. She shot both an XD9 and a Glock 21, showing no fear of the big .45 and getting decent groups at 25' and 50', with about half her shots in the black. First time with a pistol! We moved to the rifle range and set up the DPMS 24". She had never fired a big bore prior to yesterday, other than a shotgun. I gave her two mags with 10 rounds each, a brief USMC course in the BRASS system of shooting and turned her loose. At 100 yards, she put 10 out of twenty rounds in a 1 1/2" group, shooting out the black, and all 20 rounds were in a 3 1/2" group. This with the stock DPMS POS trigger. The upshot is that she now wants a bigbore rifle of her own, and thinks Dad should get it for her!
