picked up one of those new uppers from cdnn. There is a thick brown sticky coating over the whole thing which i asume is cosmoline?? what's the best way to remove this ?

I like the car wash meth . Go to the car wash use hot soapy water. then spray it with breakfree. I have un packed a ton of sks's like this. I use hot soapy water on my ar 15 if the are super dirty . They spray it will some g96 or break free and wipe it down the next day a.

Hot water(140 degrees or so) works great. take the HG's off and get her done.

After that, hose out every nook and cranny with WD40, then wipe down and lube with CLP.

Heat it up with a hair dryer and spray it down with brake cleaner

i just spray with brake cleaner, egine degreaser would eat eat the gunk right off of there.
