Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - my budget sight options

putting together at 16" carbine. Just bought a $325 used Eotech 517, and thinking of pairing it to a Primary Arms 3X magnifier deluxe whenever they're gonna get it back in stock. Just checking, but the 517 does not have a 7mm riser and thus I should mount the magnifier on a short flip mount like a LT-640-S right?

I'm hopefully going to be able to field a Eotech and magnifier complex for $575. My thoughts are as long as the sight is quality, the magnifier doesn't need to be an extravegant $500 Eotech G23; what do you guys think?
