Probably some of the best barrels available. We use them pretty much exclusively, the quality is the best we've seen.

Best barrels I can get my hands on. No problem qualifying a weapon when it has a Lothar Walther barrel. You won't go wrong.

this is good news. the upper i just put on my armalite lower has a lothar walther barrel.i shot it a little today and it put most groups under and inch w/cheap ammo.id love to see what it will do with some quality stuff.thanx Bently

Keep in mind that ANY barrel is only as good as the guy that chambers it and crowns the muzzle.
I've seen custom aftermarket barrels, that should have shot sub-half moa, ruined by poor finish machining of a perfectly rifled blank. |

Lothar states they use a custom alloy they call LW 50 which is harder than other button rifled tubes. They claim it makes them last longer, similar to a cut rifled barrel.
I have yet to shoot the one I have out. It makes one hole at 200 yards. |

From what I have heard, read, and shot, the Loather barrels are excellent but again, most of the time, the guns owner cannot shoot the barrel to its fully potential, so it depends on the marksman. I am sure there is difference in the barels but ultimately dont you guys think the shooter makes up much of the difference?

Talk to a gunsmith from this site. Tell them what you want to do with the weapon. Ask them if they will contact the barrel maker and a order a blank with the rifling twist you want. Or contact the barrel maker yourself and buy a blank with the twist you want and send it to the gunnysmith. Or while you're talking to a gunsmith about barrel A he will tell you he has barrels on the shelf by barrel make B that shoot well too. The gunsmith prolly buys them in greater quantity from barrel maker B and gives you a little price break, also they shoot well for his customers and will be more motivated to stand behind barrel B than the barrel you give him. Gunsmiths are like barrel makers......there are many good ones. |
