I used a 3/16 on mine. Got a long handled set at Walmart, (Stanley). You will need the extra length to reach it.

I hate that shit.

I ordered several busy lower parts kits, and they always send that goofy hex screw. I emailed them about it, and they claim that's mil standard.

I have never seen an M16/M4 that had the hex screw. All the M4's here have a standard slotted screw.

Yep. I only had shorties so i duct taped it to a wire to poke it down into the head, then used the pliers to break it loose. Then I cut off the short part of the "L" with the dremel and used pliers to turn the straight shaft take it the rest of the way.

A flat head screwdriver will work as well.

+1

although it is a screwy-type-screw/allen thingy - my bushmaster grip comes off with standard screwdriver- provided it is the 'right' width tip. try a couple different ones if necessary.

I have in my tool box (at work) a set of hex wrenches that have a small spring or band around the ball end that is on the long end of the wrench. If I recall, they are German made. If anyone is interested, I will get the name off of them when I go in on Sunday and post after work.
