Check with CMMG for the handguards and member 45Bravo for the moderator.

I just cut down a set of full length triangulars for my 607 project and they turned out great. They measured out at a finished length of 6 3/8". I got the rear cap from CMMG. The next step is the moderator from 45Bravo.
I'm still hoping that someone will start reproing the butt stock assembly again.

Is that overall length??? Inner-face-of-end-cap to inner-face-of-end-cap???

I'm looking for the same set of triangular CAR-length handguards, but I don't think CMMG has them anymore. :(

Contact Model1Sales. I think they had some at Knob Creek.

They did have the handguards and a number of complete Uppers. The problem with the Uppers was that for some reason they used C7 Uppers (had brass deflector), rather than using a Slick Side or A1 Upper. Not sure who they were trying to market those Uppers to, but if it was the Retro Crowd they missed.

"Capt Richardson"

CMMG will do it, they cut down a full length set and use a special end cap.

I found the end cap at www.sherluk.com/ for $25

Which flash suppressor are you looking for; the short one or the longer one? The long one is a standard piece you can buy from Bushmaster. Shorter piece, I haven't the slightest.

And now for a small editorial comment for y'all who keep tryting to build pieces like the early prototypes. Has it occured to you that there's a reason why these never made it to full production?

For the most part they didn't work very well

But hey, have fun anyway. I guess that's what it's all about in the long run

Here for the flash hide.

My prediciment is that i basically need a fake (XM177 Moderator) because i need both the length to make it 16" and it can't be a flash hider cause i live in NY

I wouldn't go as far as to say the 607s didn't work well. Research and development came up with a less expensive way to manufacture the buttstock and the handguards. It's all about the dollar.

Mine has always worked just fine.

That was actually on my PWA A2 lower before I converted it to XM partial fence.

This is the part that is registered:

$$$$ Wish I had bought a bunch when they were only $50.

Speaking of triangular-carbine handguards...I was going through my old 2003 receipts yesterday, and found two for these triangular carbine-length handguards from -

Hay River Trading Co.
P.O. Box 176
Almena, WI 54805
(715) 357-6054
fax (715) 357-3309

I think the guy from Hay River who used to post here was named "Ken"...Might be worth a shot...

Yeah, he made a lot during the 80s. His stock has long since depleted last time I checked with him...

I can't seem to find the handguard caps at either cmmg or sherluck.
Can anyone give me a direct link?
Or know of another place to find them.

Thanks

I don't know about Sherluk, But with CMMG or Model1 you need to call them. They don't have them listed on their website.

This is where I got mine, too. Back in '01.

They have them an Model 1 Sales. You have to call them and ask for the "short triangle handguards". They are $65 and include the front and rear cap. I got mine last week and they are brand new hadnguards that have been cut. The rear end cap is stamped.

That's not a bad price. Ken at Hay River was getting $39 for them back in '03 [with used handguards]...you had to specify if 5/8" or 3/4" barrel (for the front cap)...

I emailed Model1Sales. Here is their reply:
"Yes we have them, They are 25.00"
I'm gonna order one and see how it goes.

Thanks

I ordered a 607 style rear cap from CMMG today for $29.00. They did not have the hand guards in stock but would cut one down for you sorry I did not ask what they would charge as I have several and should be able to cut one down myself. I am not building a retro 607 but rather a what if using NDS A1 lower, A1 tear drop forward assist upper, Bushmaster 16 inch super light carbine barrel, 607 hand guards, three prong flash hider and either a A1 stock or the two position collapsible carbine stock. I think that it will look right at home with my two 604's on NDS lowers
