i love the stock and buffer tube, but can someone tell me why it's so expensive.

is it because it is the latest design and the mfg. is trying to make up for the r&d?
or
is it because it is such a great product and the material involved in the construction is expensive?

please let me know so that i can justify paying that much for it.

btw, i have the A.R.M.S. 50M S.I.R., 40L buis, aimpoint m3 w/A.R.M.S mount, and ergo grip.  the bushmaster non-milspec stock is killing me!  JUST FEELS WRONG.

I think it's mainly because of people like you and I are willing to dish out the dough for them at their current price. Intially they were the new thing, and like all new things they usually command a higher price and not as available. They are seen all over with the worlds elite forces, and kinda makes it a gotta have it item for alot of folks here. If the demand for these taper off im sure the price will eventually drop.  I cant see why the r&d costs would justify this, crane is the one who designed these stocks originally. Lmt beefed up the material used and manufactured them for crane.

don't know how much longer i can wait.  just can stop thinking on how i can improve on my CR-combat replica rifle.  it's getting silly, just when you think it's perfect...you hear about the "latest and greatest" thing and gotta have.

IIRC LMT has to sell them to us for the same price they sell to the military, or some such.  Or LMT can't sell to the civi world cheaper than they do the military.  Something along those lines.

LMT had to pay a HUGE fee to Crane for the rights to manufacture the Sopmod.

I think it is worth it.  I love mine and it makes shooting so much better when trying to make an accurate shot.

I have one that came on a rifle I traded a guy for.  I honestly don't get what all the fuss is about.  But group buys are good, and more power to you guys.

Count me in on group buy.  I need at least one more.  Also maybe a really dumb question, but how do you remove the stock from the buffer tube?  I just got purchased one and cannot figure it out.  Thanks in advance

I looked hard at getting one, but the price is just rediculous.  I bought one of these stock saddles and it provides an excellent cheek weld for $20.  www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=7&f=125&t=319861

not sure about other military things but for firefighting equipment, dealers pay out the ass to the gov't...just to be a "prime vendor"

I would be interested in participating in a group buy. I need the complete kit though, not just the stock.

Also interested in 1 SOPMOD stock with the full kit.  Like to know what kind of price might be possible.

Welp, that is 10+ "wants", so what constitutes enough for a group buy to get rolling?
