which parts are different on a left handed rifle?  My friend has several parts and wants to build a left handed rifle.  He  has a barrel, bolt, carrier and stock.  Is the bolt any different?  I know the carrier will be and of course he will buy a left handed upper reciever.  any tips from somebody who has built a lefty upper?

i am not quite sure of the bolt.. but you do need a left hand barrel.. more specifically the the feed ramps..

Barrel extension is for counter clockwise bolt rotation.

Bolt. Cam pin hole is drilled and tapered so the extractor will be to the other side. Bolt parts are the same.(ext, ejt, springs, pins)

Carrier is cut for cc rotation

Upper is grooved to the other side.

Port ejection door is different also.

As I remember from a recent Stag build.

Wrong....

Any barrel will do…
The “Ambi” barrel extension deal is a gimmick kind of like a “matched bolt”

You will need a lefty upper, lefty bolt, lefty carrier and use as many Ambi parts on the lower as funds will allow.

+1 I've yet to hear any reports of any issues with using a standard barrel extension with a LH bolt.

I myself have built three and there are plenty of rigs out there that have been slapped together by armorers that weren't even aware there was

a difference.

There is also no difference in the port cover or its parts other than being assembled upside down.

On the port door…

I had a stripped stag upper that I tried to install a standard port door in and it wouldn’t close.

I called Stag and they said there was a difference… they sent me a new port door that was packaged as a “LH Port Door” and it worked just fine.

I thought there was no difference, but apparently there is.
