i have a masterkey shotgun mount ( mount only) that has been "demilled" by drilling the mounting holes oversized from the mount to the shotgun receiver . mount attaches to a m4 profile barrel as originally intended. does this have any value if restored? any legal problems if the shotgun has a legal length 18 inch barrel and is 26 inches oal when attached to an ar/15?
thanx in advance for any help with a strange question

Bump because I'm interested too.

BTW, how did you get one of these - even a demilled one??

got it and some other odds and ends in trade

demilled?wtf? It's not a controlled item. go figure

As long as the shotgun has a minimum of an 18 inch barrel, you should be ok. however, you'll qiuckly ditch it cause it's a useless boat anchor.

i had an ar a while back i traded for that came with one of the 37 mm launchers.. looked cool as all get out but for me served no real purpose.... as far as the demill... i was told that it came from a police dept. that no longer was going to use it.. came in trade with several other goodies.. i also picked up an ar lower marked gm hydro matic US property m16 a1 it is a semi lower that looks prety good but shows some use .. just thought it was a unique find in someone elses "TRASH" pile
john
ps i have pics of the mount if anyone wants

as neat as it may be, i'd be thinkign abotu seriously having a "boating accident".

ATF has ruled once a MG, always a MG. If it uses the same serial, it's verbotten. Btu if it's jsut the rollmark i'd think you'd be ok.

no need to worry nam about the batf.. demilled per batf legal says that it becomes parts
thats why you CAN reweld m 14 and m2 carbine receivers to semi auto specs legally .. catch prhase being .. "SEMI-AUTO SPECS" if it cant accepts full auto parts it is a SEM_ AUTO

makes it neat to be able to build your own ar or other rifle out of "spare parts"

That doesn't really look "demilled". Instead it looks like someone tried to rig it to accept something else. Why would someone demil a mount? There is nothing NFA about the mount. As far as that goes, "Demil" mean to demilitarize, which is carried out by DoD demil shops and subcontractors. Never heard of a LE agency doing this, but I could be wrong. As far as the mount is concerned, I have seen them in worse shape than that. I would imagine it could be rewelded/redrilled back to default specs.
