Are there any bayonets that will fit on a CAR style riffle.  IT seems like the lug is to far back from the barrel.

Check out Pre Ban Arms.  I got one a while ago and looks tuff..  It has an extension on the handle.

I bought one of these. Absolutely top notch. You will find Preban arms a bit expensive, but great service and good to deal with. Brand new Colt branded Solingen Steel bayo that fits the 16" M4. Great stuff.

Well, using the add on part from PreBanArms.com and a dremmel, and a bit of welding and tapping - I know have a M9 that mounts on a 16" barrel!

Some one makes a clamp on bayonet lug (can't remember who), you could mount this on the barrel, forward of the current lug. This way you could use the same bayonet on all your rifles.

Why not just get a 14.5 barrel and a phantom? they look way better and you dont have to buy a specail bayonet

DPMS makes the specialized clamp on bayonet lug...

Because you would lose significant velocity.  Unless you have an M203 or just care about looks, the M4 barrel (as most 14.5" are) doesn't have the best profile either.

It's all moot, the solutions discussed are for people whom already have 16" bbls, they aren't going to spend more money for a new configuration just so they can add an unmodified bayonet, and no one I know buys a barrel and flash suppressor combo based on the capability of being able to attach and unmodified bayonet.

esquif - +1

CeramicGod - nice job, so when can you get to work on one for me???  I have money - not time, skill, or tools...

Well, I'd certainly consider making a few and putting up a post to sell them on here, if people are interested. THe only problem I come across is where to get the M9's reasonably priced? Everything I see lately is $100+.

So, $100 ish for hte bayo, $35 bux for the added parts - are people willing to buy M9's that fit 16" carbines for $175 bux? (For my time and labor, of course).

Thoughts?

I got the clamp-on bayonet lug from CMMG for my CAR-15. It looks a little wierd with 2 lugs, but it's functional. I might rotate it to the top of the barrel and see what that looks like......
