I can't seem to get barrel clean. I run wet patch through with Butch's Bore shine, or Barnes C-10 Bore cleaner, let soak for 15min. then new Bronze bristle brush for 10 strokes. Wet patch through again, black, second patch, nearly clean. Brush again, same procedure, same results. I can do this for hours and maybe 50 patches with no apperent progress. Is the damn thing clean and I'm removing barrel metal or what? HELP

It is likely the brush.
Try a carbon cleaner 1st then use a copper cleaner with a nylon brush or somethink like Wipe Out foaming bore cleaner for the copper.

I ALWAYS gets tons more black shit on my patches after brushing unless it's not been fired in a while and just had lots of cleaning.  I always just guessed that it was pulling the carbon from the pores of the metal.

Slip 2000 725 works really well on carbon in the bore. Spray in down the bore wate 5 minutes and hit it with a bronz brush. Repeet 4 times and your bore will be clean even after brushing no more black will come out. Then get the copper.

When using amonia based cleaners try a nylon bristle brush.
