forgive the newbie first post question.  i'm sure it displays my ignorance for all to see.
but
with an EOTech or similar tubless red dot mouted on a flat top can you use a flip up iron sight and get a sight picture through the sighting glass in case of equipment faliure, ect?

ABSOLUTELY YES!  I've got the EOTech with the GG&G MAD and it CO-WITNESSES beautifully!  It's perfect.

GG&G MAD?  is that a flip up?  i assume you dont need a special mount to configure the 552 so that you can use BUIS through the sighting lens and just attach the sight directly on your weaver flattop.

also can someone please explain the "kill flash" on the Aimpoint?  is that the IR laser or is it something else?

thank for the response.  my only AR experience is with Colt and FN military M16s.   looking to get something of my own, because i dont get enough trigger time seeing as how im in the Gaurd at the moment.  this forum has been a wealth of information for me so far.

No special mount needed.  It mounts seemlessly and perfectly.  There's just enough space between the EOTech and the BUIS to activate the buttons on the EOTech.  Yes, it's a flip up, and is the lowest profile available.  It's super sleak, yet strong, and locks in place when up.  You simply press a detent to flip it back down.  It has a multiple apeture device MAD that rotates on a wheel rather than flipping forward or backward.  This keeps the rear apetures on the same plane, further helping repeat zeros.  It's also really cool looking.

I think that's just a cover you put over the front lens so that your enemy cant see the reflection off the scope lens.  (am I right about this description or am I talking about something else)

i think your talking about muzzlesid signatare
I thought the killflash was to negate muzzle flash when weapon is fired I might be wrong

is it possible to get a BUIS picture through an Aimpoint or does the tube preclude such a thing.

if it is possible what mounting system do you need on a A3 flat?

You bet!

I use an ARMS #22M68 on an ARMS SIR system, but you can use the mount with a full spacer mounted to the receiver.  There are countless options for mounts, including LaRue, KAC, GG&G, and Aimpoint.
