I tried to order that stuff but could not because I am not a club member, so I ordered some other 7.62 ammo on stripper clips.....got it today turns out it is that damned Indian crap.
hahahaha I figure Belgium = fal = 308 = prolly pretty good ammo (I know they make tons of guns, but come on you hear belgium you think 308!) I've got a dpms AP4 308 on teh way and know they don't like south african, so I think I'm gonna order loads of this belgium stuff too. Got a saiga 308 that could use it too... |
Ordered three cans yesterday. Hoping its accurate in AR10A4 or FAL. I would buy more if
funds would permit. Gordonm1 |
I will order you the ammo if you like. I signed up for the club, it cost 9 bucks, usually its 29 but then send you two 10 coupons..ehhh why not. I got free shipping and 40 per 250 is a good deal plus they come a ammo can. I can usually get SA for 22 per 140 so this is about the same deal but different 308 to try. chapperjoe how is it you think your DPMS wont like the cheap stuff ?? Mine works fine and you shouldnt have any issues either.. I havent looked at this place much before but I will to use my coupons at least. |
Take a trip down my way and pick up some surplus 308 at Gander Mtn. $69 for 400 rds in cans and bandoliers.
Range trip. |
I've heard that they don't eat SA well, dunno where, but no sense arguing over it if I can feed her this stuff. Also, do you have the AP4? I also got a thousand, will probably get more too. |
thats pretty amazing shooting for any ammo at 300 yards, much less surp!
And the SA issue is AP4-specfic, by the way. notice comes iwth rifle to aviod it. Not a big deal to me. Sweet groups dude. wow. |
Belgian .308 is damn good Zombie ammo
Just remember when you find a deal like this, buy 4 cans and stash away 2 for a rainy day |
That stuff is WACK- steer clear of it IMHO. It's Indian. Indian ammo has this curious propensity to KB. |
you truly are teh arfkom pointer outer. |

Thanks for the heads up. I signed up for membership per the instructions on the FAL site, AWESOME deal! Ordered 6 cans, now i just need a 308 rifle
Edit-pay no attention to the idiot behind the curtain. |
From Gander Mountain? The stuff in the green cans, that's semi-corroded and looks like it's been stored in a mud puddle? Must be different stuff than what I've seen. The GM by me had a pallet full of it; I wouldn't touch the stuff. Indian's not good ammo. |
My bad. The intel I have says that the 70s Indian on bandoliers is good, and the 90s blister pack stuff is not. This is 74 vintage, and it shoots great. |

Try this page polygunbag.com they have a great price on SA 308 per case.....
Slug-O |
SG was already out of the crates when I ordered. So I just ordered the smaller size.
That was one thing I confirmed that I would be getting two cans with ammo, other wise I can get the SA stuff at the local show for 22 per 140. So for the extra few bucks I have a few more cans for ammo.. |
just placed my order, 5,250 rounds with 21 ammo cans deliverd for $901.86 and that even includes the $29.99 membership fee. cant beat that with a stick. my UPS guy is going to hate me. |
I only wish I had this kind of coin around! I'd do the same thing. Buying ammo 500 rounds at a time used to give me a thrill- now it's blase. I need to place a 5000 rounder! |

SG is just down the road from where I live-about fifteen miles. They have on hand, as of this afternoon, 430+/- 400 packs of Indian 7.62 x 51 in dirty .50 cal cans, and 1,430 250 packs .30 caliber cans of Belgian 7.62 x 51. .30 cans are very slightly rusty, but in good condition. Belgian ammunition is clean and enclosed in ten round heavy clear plastic envelopes. The Indian is in cloth bandoleers, four round stripper clips, two clips per bandoleer pouch. I inadvertently purchased the Indian ammo, returned it for the Belgian. 3,000 rounds for $540.00, which included the Minnesota 6.5% sales tax. Since I live in Minnesota there is no way to dodge the tax if mail ordered, and I saved shipping. The Indian ammunition appeared clean, the boxes were grim, but TIGHTLY sealed, the gasket not having moved in probably decades. Boxes appeared sound, but were covered with brown dirt in the form of fine dust, as if stored in marginal conditions. This also leads me to question the high temperature they were stored versus the salubrious climate of Belgium. All this ignores the entire QC question. Indian QC is an oxymoron, such as Arab military might, Muslim logic, Hilary Clinton Playmate photos, etc.
Price per round Belgian to Indian is the same, or within a penny, which should answer any questions. |
Ditto. I had some Indian dated 78 stuff that shot mighty fine in a Bolt action 308. I was waaay cheaper than the going rate now though. I would prob. just buy the Belgian, |
I just picked up 5,000 from my internet source and another 4,800 at a local gunstore So I am set for good spankin ammo for a few months |
I just ordered 500 rounds of the Belgium, I thought should I get just one, well what the heck I will get two it is only money. Then I see people ordering 20+, shit I don't even have room to store 20, much less afford it. I will point this out to the wife when she sees them delivered.

I couldn't resist any longer... just placed an order for a few cans.

1,000 rounds of the FN 7.62 arrived last night from SG. All 4 cans were marked lot 12, 1977 and were still solder/wire sealed. All 4 cans showed some rust on the outside. Inside, the cans were clean with no visible leakage. All of the plastic 10 round packs were still sealed. However, most of the rounds were tarnished brown and/or green. Very fine steel wool does remove the tarnish. I had intended to keep the FN 7.62 for the future but, will now shoot it first. I have Portuguese 7.62 from 1976, 1978 and 1981. A case of SA from 1979. A case of Hert from 1978. a couple of Radway Green cases from the 1980s and 6 cases of Aussie. They all look as if they were manufactured last week. The tarnished FN will be fired first.

40 cans, your my hero ..LOL. ..I just received my 4 cans tonight and I received - lot 1 FNB 79 This stuff must be flying out the door ! The cases look great, and the boxes are in nice shape except for a few dings from shifting around in the box in transit. They packed the 4 cans in a box the size of a 25" tv with a few peices of scrunched up paper. All the boxes were covered in a light film of oil, must be to keep from rusting. Had to order a couple more tonight before AR15USA gets them all ....Get it while you can ,it doesn't get much better than FN 308.. |
Anyone get any 80's dated FN 308 from SG yet? I won't get a chance to shoot any of mine until next weekend, any one had a chance to try out theirs yet ? It sounds like the guys over at Fal Forum our buying this up as fast as they can . I wish they had gotten this in at SG during the summer, I would buy another 6 cans but it's too close to christmas to go nuts...

As far as I know there have only been two lots reported so far:
Lot 12 1977 - Shipped from Nov 4 to last week. Lot 1 1979 - Began showing up a few days ago. Last week someone who lived near Sportsman's Guide said they had 1450 cans left at that point. Maybe they are shipping from oldest to newest? |
Ordered one more can to round out an order to use a coupon. Was hoping that the Lots would get progressively younger as they sold it. Well this can was Lot 12, 1973.
I cancelled my order cause I got 1000 rounds of XM80 lake city....
so im getting the hint that you guys like this stuff. I looked at it once and got scared away by the fact it was 30+ years old. is this stuff really good and accurate? I bought some de-mil stuff from there from like chili one time and it was horrable. so dirty that after 100 rnds the gun just jammed. Im shooting a century cetme .308 and it seems like a cranky gun as it is.
I just bought from Sportsman's some plastic riot ammo, $0.06 a round. I will have to try it out this weekend. According to the ad, it is good out to 100 yards.
I have used this ammo in a old FAL that I sold to fund my new DPMS .308 it compares the same ballistically to SA Surplus which my DPMS eats very well I also have had great luck with ADI, a friend of mine is a club member so I asked hime to order me a couple of cases to try
I just got mine today, I orderd 2 cans from SG. Mine is lot #4 and the year is 1980. It looks like good stuff.
I ran out today and fired a few hundred rounds through my Cetme without a stutter. This stuff is MUCH cleaner than SA. My Cetme couldn't go through 100 rds of SA without getting so dirty it would fail to feed every 2 or 3 shots. My Springfield M1A ate the FN like candy. I wont get to shoot some groups till Friday, but with just the cans I was shooting at 100yds I don't have much doubt that this is atleast as good as the Port and Aussie I have shot. This is some quality ammo, get it while you can. You don't see FN surplus come around too often and when it does it goes for a premium price. BD |
ok, so after reading this thred and itching like a crack head for the last 24hrs, I took the plunge and ordered some for me. although i dont have the funds to buy huge quantity I placed an order yesterday for 1000 rnds of .223, and 500rnds of .45acp's, 1000 rnds of 9MM's. so i hope this will last me a few months.lol(pfft)..i hope

Hey screen-name
Don't worry about it, looking outside the window I think the weather is going to slow us down for the next 3 or 4 months Whereabouts you live upstate or down ? BD |
I normally do not buy ammo that does not work for me or warn someone if the ammo I just tried is not good. I try keep my mouth shut if I have not tried any or take advise quitely...
But I am really impressed by the educated "fellow americans" who make such level head comments of armies of other countries and the quality of ammo. With our country men such as these who needs friends in other countries .... they must be inferior ... hell, other religions much be inferior too due to a few bad apples in the basket ... Just an observation comment … but then again, … opinions are just like ____s, everyone has one. Thank you. now you can flame me .... |
If i ran my numbers right its a couple bucks cheaper if you don't join the club.
It would be cheaper to not join if you only plan on buying a couple things. But if you are like me and buy something from them about every 2 weeks then its alot cheaper. 5% off all ammo 10% off everything else plus free shipping when you sign up and 2 $10 off coupons. Ill end up saving tons of money withing the year membership.
How do they look, heavily tarnished or any corrosion ? I have read the lot from 1977 is hit or miss. My first batch was lot 1, 1979 and they were in great shape. I am waiting on a delivery tonight, I'll report what I got when it get's here. BD |
The ammo in both cans looks great, with no hints of tarnish or corrosion. I think I'm gonna order some more. |
just bought another 3 cans and a can of belted Port. if you want some of this i would jump on it as it seems it will all be gone soon. many people including myself have already placed multiple orders. for the price with the cans it is a good deal. as someone else once said "buy it cheap and stack it deep"
