You need the Armalite kit to modify the mag to work.  The kit includes an entirely new mag excepting the floorplate which apparently is the legal part of not making a new hicap mag.  You should really post this in the forum here that the AR10 guys hang out in.  You'd get more response.

Contact Tom at Tom & Joe's Firearms (303) 231-0998.  He's got a local guy modifying M14 mags to work in AR10 for very reasonable price (much cheaper than Armalite)
