i want to take off the forward sling mount from the gas block but im not sure how. it looks like the only way to do it is to use a drill. if that the only way then that fine but i was just wondering if their was a better way.

Yeah I have got a hard time trying to get them off too but not sucessful.  Mine is not a rivet thing and not sure how to get it off.  I have posted here several time asking for opinion but not getting anywhere.

I used a punch and drove it out.  The curled end just breaks off.  Very easy to do and no drill needed.

Ditto the punching with a small diameter punch.  I've done it and replaced them a few times.

Use a sharp flat tip screw driver or chisel and get behind the rounded dome of the rivet and with light taps from a hammer you will shear it off clean.
