Who makes a hard case, 36" or less, and reasonably priced.  I only need it for the back of my vehicle, not shipping my AR or anything.

I measured the vertical height, from the bottom of the grip to the top of my ACOG and it's about 10".
The length with the stock collapsed is a little under 33".

I don't want to carry much else with it except a couple of mags.

I don't want to spend enough to get a Pelican since I'm not really going to beat it up much.

Please recommend anything you can think of....   I'm worn out from searching and Googling!

Thanks in advance,

Jerry.

Do you have a local store like Dick's or Sportsman's Warehouse?  I would just go there and check out what they have.  Plano and one other company make less expensive hard cases that will probably work OK, and you can generally get some of them in a shorter variety.  They aren't as durable as a pelican, but are perfectly servicable.

Winchester also "makes" a line of aluminum-ish cases that are really nice and less than Pelican.  They come in TONS of sizes, and are at most sporting goods places.  They are the ribbed style with aluminum/metal edges & corners and buckle latches.  They are pretty nice, but may be more than you want to spend.

I wish I could remember the brand of my large pistol case, but it's out in the garage right now behind my truck and I can't get to it without moving it.  They are everywhere though, and good enough.

I think my rifle cases are Contico or something.  *Almost* as durable as a pelican, really, but not quite.  Bought them used off a previous landlord, but I've not seen them for sale anywhere.  They are long enough for a 91/30 though––so not 36"!

There are a few evil bay sellers that market import aluminum hard cases in both 36" and 42".  These run about 60-80 bucks shipped.  I bought mine strictly for transporting in my vehicle.  I use the 42" to secure my scoped AR10.
