I want to make a light 16"

How much weight does it add to go from a CAR to midlength handguard (just handguard weights, no barrels included)? How about going from a Midlength to a dissapator length?

The weight of the handguards?
They are so light that I wouldn't worry about it.
The barrel is where the weight is at...

I think the difference is a few ounces. Check out the big thread on FF rails for the exact number.

The other poster was correct when he said the barrel was the big weight factor. But you must also keep in mind the total moment (distance times weight). Basically, the further out on the rifle something is, the heavier it will feel. So a 3 ounce flash hider will "feel" heavier than 3 ounces of batteries added to your the compartment in your pistol grip.
