Not nessesarily. I use a 1-4x20 leupold. I can do the CQB thing or the 300 yards thing. 95% of the shooting I do is at the 1 power setting. But it's nice to be able to pop the power up when I want to only take one shot at a small target. |

If you shoot from 1M to 300M get the EOTech. If you are looking to shoot gophers at 300M's + get a scope...

i guess i get both, may go shooting with a friend someday in AK, been told you might want a something fast and hard if you stumble across a bear and her cubs i know i cant run as fast as i used too

If you stumbled on to a bear and her cubs, the only way an AR is gonna help you is to put the muzzle on your temple and pull the trigger. Shooting it at the bear will annoy the bear greatly, and that will be much worse than a bullet to the brain.
