Okie-dokie.

I have a BM 16" superlight barrel on the way.  It's going to be used for an XM177 build, and the barrel's going to be chopped to 12.5" and then have a fake moderator pinned/welded on.

For reliablity, should the gas port be opened up?  If so, how much?

Thanks

You could have someone make a fake moderator  thats slips over the original barrel (maybe shortened a bit )and pinned/welded on.
that way you would have the performance of the long barrel ,,and no need to open the gasport ,but the look you want

hey Randall  ,,What do you say about this ,,possible ?

Or he could just have me do it like this, but with an XM flash suppressor instead of a 5.5" flash suppressor...

Now that is cool. The looks without any lose of MV. What a great idea!

Could you open up the FS/re-thread to have a larger diameter barrel?
