Do you have to remove the barrel and delta ring to install a new dust cover?  I got a new dust cover and was wondering if there was any other way to install it without having to go throught all the trouble of removing the barrel and delta ring.

No, pull the little c-clip off the front of the hinge pin and you'll be able to pull it out from the rear.

Whatever you can get a hold of it with should work.

This may seem silly but.....

Take a magnet and magnetize that little c clip so when you pull it off it sticks to the pliers. They are tiny and when you drop one they are a real bugger to find on your shop floor. I think my floor has a black hole where C clips, roll pins and detent pins get sucked into by some sort of gravitational force doohicky.

Thanks for the info.  I was already prepareing to buy another c-clip because I think I have a direct link to your black hole.  The second a part of mine hits the floor it dissapears instantly.  I just know i'm going to loose it.
